Becoming ashamed

I am a Catholic. I attended 12 years of Catholic education. I am becoming ashamed to say so. Archbishop Raymond Burke is acting as if he is God. He is simply a man who has chosen his profession as a priest. Leave St. Stanislaus alone. I have heard there are other parishes in our archdiocese that operate similarly. Does the Catholic Church need this money to pay off sexual abuse cases? Archbishop Burke, you will excommunicate those involved with St. Stanislaus, but you do not excommunicate the priests who have abused our children. Shame on you.

This comment from "Town Talk" is confusing to me. The caller states that he is "becoming ashamed for having attended 12 years of Catholic school." This "shame" might be understandable considering the state of some of the so-called Catholic schools in recent years. But why, really, would one who claims to be Catholic have "shame" for having attended 12 years of Catholic education...Did this presumably educated individual learn to be blind to the truth, to ignore facts?

This professed Catholic pronounces his judgment in favor of St. Stanislaus based on what? Facts?...Absolutely not! He states that he has "heard there are other parishes in our archdiocese that operate similarly (to St Stans)." Of course, what he has heard (and evidently assumed to be fact) is nothing more than the intentional misinformation and distortions of the St. Stanislaus spokesmen and the Board.

Can we not wonder as well whether reading was part of the curriculum during the Catholic educational process for this person as he asks "Does the Catholic Church need this money to pay off sexual abuse cases?" Those who have followed the St. Stanislaus issue know well that this is just another example of the litany of "talking points" - (red herrings and straw men), designed to confuse the issue with matters which are unrelated to the the St Stanislaus problem. Had the caller actually read anything in the St. Louis Review or looked at the documents at the Archdiocesan website, he would have known better than to ask such a question - a question which serves only to betray either his ignorance of the subject or his predetermined agenda.

Lastly, the individual, ashamed of having received 12 years of a Catholic education, admonishes Archbishop Burke by exclaiming "Shame on you", when the Archbishop was merely pointing out the obvious self-imposed excommunications of those undertaking acts of schism. I would suggest that the caller need only look in the mirror and repeat those same words to himself for his abject lack of knowledge of the situation or for his dedication to promoting the agenda of a group of disobedient and rebellious members of St. Stanislaus.

Ignore Burke

If parishioners of all religions in the St. Louis area were to ignore Archbishop Raymond Burke, we would probably all feel better about one another.

I'm certain that the "parishioners" of the local temples, mosques and Protestant churches share this sentiment...

The archbishop's a Red

THIS IS FOR St. Stanislaus and Rev. Burke. As a non- Catholic, I support St. Stanislaus Church in their Christian effort for freedom of religion. Also as a Christian, I oppose Rev. Burke for his communist dictatorship. They need to understand that this is America. We have a freedom of religion, speech and ownership. If the Catholic Church wants to be a dictatorship let them go to a communist country and get out of the United States. Just because you think you're the biggest church in the world doesn't mean you are. The Christian Church is the biggest church in the world and that has to do with Christ and Christ's teachings, like catechism.
