A Sign of "Victory"?

According to Bill McClellan's final look at an odd, cool, and weird stories of 2005, he equates defiance and rebellion as virtuous as related in his muddled observation of the "Coolest" Runner-up story here:
Runner-up: After talks broke down between the lay directors of St. Stanislaus and Archbishop Raymond Burke, and shortly after Jamie Allman accused the directors of "hijacking" the church, parishioners gathered at the church to vote on the question: "Should we turn over all property, funds and parish control to the Archdiocese of St. Louis?" The vote was 299-5 to reject the demands of the archdiocese, and when one of the directors announced the result - "You have spoken!" he shouted - the crowd rose to its feet. Near me was Ann McKeever, 83 years old and sitting in a wheelchair. She had made her First Communion at St. Stan, and she had been married there. She struggled to rise, and someone noticed and pulled her up, and then she was standing, one hand holding the wheelchair for balance, the other raised in victory. These are not people to bully, I wrote.
What a "Cool" observation!
