The nation's largest Roman Catholic archdiocese said Friday it has agreed to pay $60 million to settle 45 lawsuits alleging sex abuse by priests.Source.
The cases were among more than 500 pending against the archdiocese.
"I pray that the settlement of the initial group of cases will help the victims involved to move forward with their lives and to build a brighter future for themselves and their families," Cardinal Roger Mahony said in a news release.

LA Archdiocese Settles 45 Abuse Cases...
...to the tune of 60 million dollars. That's an average of $1,333,333 per case! And the archdiocese is facing over 500 more lawsuits...At the current per case rate of $1.3 million, it could be facing over an additional $666 million...Coincidental number, yes?
