Principles and Practices - September 9

The Real Confession

I wish you, moreover, to take great care to be quite truthful, simple, and charitable in confession (truthful and simple are really the same thing), telling your faults dearly, without disguise or artifice. You should remember that you are speaking to God, from whom nothing can be hidden. You should be also charitable, not bringing your neighbour in any way into your confession.

-St. Francis de Sales.
