Simplicity
Simplicity leads us directly to God without being stopped by self-interest or human respect; it makes us speak and act without dissimulation or artifice; and it not only embraces within itself truth and purity of intention, but it is a guardian also against all duplicity.
It governs our speech, making us utter what we feel inwardly. It directs our actions, making us work purely for God in all business, whether temporal or spiritual, and exercises piety without the least taint of hypocrisy or artifice, or of vain pretentions; and provided only His Divine Majesty be glorified, it cares not what men say or think.
-St. Vincent de Paul.
