The Dead Kennedy Show: liberal Catholicism's last gasp. (The Priestly Pugilist)
2:32 PM 9/8/2009 — It’s been a week since the Dead Kennedy Show aired on TV; and, since Father Venditti has already dealt with the canonical and spiritual aspects of the whole thing, your PP would like to reflect a little on what it might mean in the whole spectrum of the development of Catholicism in the United States. As distastefull and scandalous as we all know the Dead Kennedy Show was, it has, inadvertently, betrayed some rather encouraging signs...

ND’s McBrien: Eucharistic Adoration “is a...spiritual step backward”
In many places where perpetual, or even frequent, Eucharistic Adoration has been made available, there have been great benefits. But Richard McBrien of Notre Dame is again Eucharist Adoration. In his latest piece for the dissenting, ultra-liberal National Catholic Reporter McBrien wrote this with my emphases and comments...
[Fr John Hardon (RIP), on one of his many tapes, related an occasion where he stood up and told everyone listening to an address of McBrien's that everything McBrien said was HERESY - One who embraces and promotes heresy can rightly be called an heretic. McBrien fits the bill as do most other faux Catholics]

The Government's Effort Has Failed
The important point is that we have never been here before in the post-Depression era. Any and all claims that "The Consumer has reached a bottom", or "The Recession is over" (based on July data) or any such is pure nonsense. There is not only no sign of a bottom there is no change in the second derivative - that is, the rate of change continues to be essentially straight down!

'We're pinned down:' 4 U.S. Marines die in Afghan ambush
...Dashing from boulder to boulder, diving into trenches and ducking behind stone walls as the insurgents maneuvered to outflank us, we waited more than an hour for U.S. helicopters to arrive, despite earlier assurances that air cover would be five minutes away. U.S. commanders, citing new rules to avoid civilian casualties, rejected repeated calls to unleash artillery rounds at attackers dug into the slopes and tree lines — despite being told repeatedly that they weren't near the village.
[New rules of engagement from the imposter/ake commander-in-chief...How many more of our brave men and women will die needlessly as the US wastes time and effort in Afghanistan? Obongo sends them to die/not fight - and he's not even qualified to be President! What an abject failure - on so many levles!]

A year after financial crisis, the consumer economy is dead
One year after the near collapse of the global financial system, this much is clear: The financial world as we knew it is over, and something new is rising from its ashes. Historians will look to September 2008 as a watershed for the U.S. economy...

Social Security Trust Fund Shocker - $6B August!
The Social Security Trust Fund reported an August net deficit of $5.865 Billion. This is the largest monthly deficit in nineteen years. Base on recent years data it was not surprising the Fund ran a deficit in August. But the magnitude of the shortfall was a surprise to me. This deficit is now the seventh in the past twelve months. That pace has never been seen before

Shocker! Judge orders trial on eligibility issue
A California judge today tentatively scheduled a trial for Jan. 26, 2010, for a case that challenges Barack Obama's eligibility to be president based on questions over his qualifications under the requirements of the U.S. Constitution. If the case actually goes to arguments before U.S. District Judge David Carter, it will be the first time the merits of the dispute have been argued in open court, according to one of the attorneys working on the issue...
