Missouri Legislature Misses Opportunity to Save Lives

From Missouri Right to Life:

ANOTHER MISSED OPPORTUNITY - NO CALL FOR SPECIAL SESSION

It is once again September and legislators have traveled to Jefferson City on taxpayer dollars to hold a constitutionally-required veto session. But instead of taking steps to enact legislation to require ultrasounds for pregnant women before an abortion is done and to pass other effective pro-life legislation, legislators have done nothing to move the pro-life cause forward.

"The Missouri legislature passed up an opportunity to urge the Governor to convene a special session and pass HB 1831," said Pam Fichter, President of Missouri Right to Life. "This legislation would have saved babies and protected women from being coerced into an abortion. It would also have given mothers the opportunity to view an ultrasound and receive information on their unborn child's development before deciding on abortion," Fichter continued. "Legislators also missed an opportunity to close the loophole of HB 818 from 2007 which opens the door for exploitation by the abortion industry to allow abortion to be performed by non-physicians."

It is never too late to save babies and protect women. It is disappointing that the legislators waxed long on rhetoric but fell short on action on September 10 when they could have done so much more to aid the cause of life.
Politicians who fail to protect the innocent unborn do not deserve to stay in office and they must be voted out!

Now let me get this straight--you want Missouri politicians who are for human embryonic experimentation and extermination OUT of office, but you want Presidential politicians like McCain who is for human embryonic experimentation and extermination IN! Anyone see something wrong with this hypocrisy? Or is it just me and all the little boys and girls who are imprisoned in Petri dishes who know hypocrisy when they read it.

Hypocrisy? I don't recall that LRS has said anything about supporting McCain? Did I miss a post somewhere?

I've always been opposed to ESCR and to those who support it. I have always maintained that any politician who supports the murder of the unborn should be removed from office - but I must add - as long as someone even worse does not take his/her place... Try Obama...Proportionate reasons, moral theology, limited the harm done, etc...

Did you read the Pastoral by Bishops Naumann and Finn? How about Pat Buchanan's lucid article?

The word "those" should have been used instead of "you"--my error. William Wilberforce didn't stop sounding the alarm on injustice, and neither will I. The injustice of McCain's support of human embryonic experimentation and extermination and abortion of those children who had no choice as to how they were conceived must never be forgotten. I did read the Kansas Bishops joint statement. I'd like to see a Q&A statement by Bishop Coakley, a Kansas bishop who has said he will enforce Canon 915 and 916.

Has anyone heard McCain's radio spot where he publicizes his support for stem cell research? Could that ad be considered purposeful deceit, since we can't tell which stem cell research he is supporting? http://www.cnsnews.com/public/content/article.aspx?RsrcID=35626 IF the McCain radio spot is supporting ESCR, it sure doesn't look like a conversion is in the works. As a country, we've probably got innocent blood on our hands for well over 50 million dead children from surgical abortion, not including chemical abortions, since 1973. How many children are imprisoned in Petri dishes? Does anyone know? Could it be possible that those Petri-dish imprisoned babies could exceed surgical abortion numbers since 1973? If McCain authorizes the deaths of babies imprisoned in Petri dishes, and the numbers exceed surgical abortion murders, will we finally be able to switch the priority of embryonic killings away from the general term "abortion"? Is it possible surgical abortion will be dwarfed in numbers by babies slaughtered by experimentation and extermination? I don't have the answers, but I sure am curious as to how many children's corpses we may have to deal with.
