LA CROSSE, Wisconsin, August 22, 2005 (LifeSiteNews.com) - In a meeting in Denver during the 2004 Presidential election campaign, the US Conference of Catholic Bishops, (USCCB) decided that politicians and other public figures who supported abortion, homosexual legitimacy or otherwise lived in opposition to their faith, could not be allowed a public platform in Catholic churches or institutions. The decision was left up to individual bishops to enforce or not.More here.
In the diocese of LaCrosse, Wisconsin, Bishop Jerome E. Listecki has issued what he is calling a "policy of prudence" regarding speakers in which he has reserved such decisions to his own discretion.
...
The policy requires that a group wishing to invite a speaker must provide the bishop with a curriculum vitae showing the speaker is a Catholic in good standing.
Kudos to and prayers for Bishop Listecki and others who do likewise.
