Just for Today, November 26

Thou shalt not labour here long, nor shalt thou be always oppressed with sorrows. Wait a little while, and thou shalt see a speedy end of all thy evils.
The hour will come when labour and trouble shall be no more. All is little and short which passeth away with time.
- Bk. III, ch. xlvii.
________________________________
I need to forget this world, Celine, where everything wearies me. I can find happiness only in suffering, a happiness which, though not felt, is above all earthly joys. This life is passing and eternity draws near, when we shall live by God's own life, and drink from the source of all bliss, after having tasted the cup of bitterness here below.

The fashion of this world passeth away (1 Cor. vii, 31), and we shall see new skies, the boundless seas and wide horizons bathed in the brightness of another sun. With our Heavenly Bridegroom we shall pass over the waters playing on our harps, that hung mute upon the willows (Ps. cxxxvi) in the Babylon of our exile, where we were once captives. Then we shall make melody with joyful hearts, whereas here we sat and wept when we remembered Sion. How shall we sing the song of the Lord in a strange land (ibid.)?
