The privilege of handling the consecrated vessels, and preparing the linen cloths which were to come in contact with Jesus Christ was a great joy to me. I realized how fervent this ought to make me, and often recalled these words spoken to a holy deacon: Be ye clean, you that carry the vessels of the Lord (Is. lii, II).
