ROMA, February 11, 2008 – This year as well, Pope Benedict XVI has met with the priests and deacons of Rome for the traditional appointment at the beginning of Lent.
And this time as well he replied, improvising, to their questions.
The meeting took place behind closed doors on the morning of Thursday, February 7th, in the Hall of Blessings, above the entrance to the basilica of Saint Peter. There were ten questions, on ten separate topics.

[One priest] denounced the silence that has fallen on the ultimate truths: judgment, hell, heaven. He complained that "the catechisms of the Italian bishops' conference used for teaching our faith to young people never mention hell, never purgatory, heaven only once, and sin only once – and original sin at that." And he asked: "With these essential parts of the creed missing, doesn't it seem to you that the redemption of Christ falls apart?"....
