He said do no harm...

The author of a letter in the Belleville News Democrat picks up on a phrase uttered by B. Hussein Obama/Soetoro in the 3rd debate:

The Hippocratic Oath, attributed to a 5th century B.C. Greek physician, was referred to by Sen. Barack Obama in the third presidential debate in support of his opposition to legislation designed to protect children who are born alive. Opposing protection of human life, even after abortion has not terminated that life, makes Obama not only the most extreme pro-abortion presidential candidate ever, but also the most extreme ever to serve in Congress, according to Robert George, professor of jurisprudence at Princeton University.

The real irony here is that the original Hippocratic Oath stated: "I will not give to a woman an abortive remedy."

Deletions from Hippocrates' principles, including his interdictions against abortion and euthanasia, have been occurring since the 1960s. The obvious shift in emphasis from serving the sick to claims to benefit "humanity" has an alarming, maybe even tyrannical, ring to it.

Hippocrates would surely be astounded at the distortions of his oath in today's politically correct "ethical" environment, and stunned at the invocation of his oath to defend abortion and infanticide.
