Principles and Practices - August 15

The Presence of God

Under the law of grace, as perfection became more common and sublime, so the exercise of the Presence of God is more general. All the saints and servants of God apply themselves to perform their actions in God's sight. When God attracted to Himself the Blessed Henry Suso, He imprinted in his heart a high esteem for this holy exercise. The saint worked with all his might to form this holy habit, which he finally acquired, so that in all his actions he saw, without effort, God present, and conversed with Him in the silence of his heart, which enabled him to support patiently his trials, to practise penance, and to become a model of sanctity.
