The One You Must Read: Letter to Obama

From Cynthia A. Janak, RenewAmerica:
I do not normally do this but it is so pertinent to who we pick November 4th I just had to post it.

This person wrote a letter to Senator Obama and it is circulating the web. It summarizes all that has happened during this whole campaign.

THIS ONE YOU MUST READ AND SEND OUT TO ALL YOU CAN..........

I know that many of you are sick and tired of all this political BS but if you read just one more thing between now and next month's election, I urge you to read the following editorial.

I don't know who 'Michael Masters' is or what he does, but he does write cogently and well. A Google search turns up a Michael Masters who is a lawyer in Philadelphia, but I don't believe that he is the author of this open letter. There is a 'Michael C. Masters' who lives in McLean, VA — I presume, but do not know, for sure, that he is the author.

However, he didn't show up in any Google searches that I conducted, so I guess he isn't 'notorious' enough to be found. I look at that as a good thing, however. On the surface, that suggests he is just another citizen like the rest of us and has no particular ax to grind. However, he HAS done his homework before writing this editorial.

I urge all to read this and forward it to those who may have been fooled by the Obama hype...Just a short excerpt from the Letter reads:

...Mr. Obama, Teddy Roosevelt said about a hundred years ago that we Americans should first look at the character of our leaders before anything else.

Your character looks horrible. While you make good speeches, motivating speeches, your character does not match your rhetoric. You talk the talk, but do not walk the walk.

1. You lied to America. You lied many times. You distorted facts. You parsed your answers like a lawyer.

2. You distorted the record of John McCain in your words and in your advertisements.

3. You had associations with some very bad people for your personal political gains and then lied about those associations.

4. You divide America about race and about class.

The article is here...As we have been warned many times, no Catholic can, in good conscience, vote for this tyrant who supports the genocide/infanticide! To vote for this man is to cooperate in his diabolical evil!

We will attack you from within....

Emailed to me from a friend:

Well, since our journalists no longer do investigative reporting and have opted instead to simply write opinion pieces, I thought I’d do an opinion piece of my own.

"We will attack you from within. We will use your constitution against you."
---Osama Bin Laden 2001

Translation: We will use your constitution's guarantee of freedom of religion and use it to install the teachings of Islam, which do not!

The Holy War has arrived. We are being attacked from within. The takeover of America is in progress. A country which was founded on and rooted in Judeo-Christian values. It will be subtle at first………….But make no mistake, “The One” has spoken. He has said we are no longer a Christian Nation. Why is that so important to Obama?

Neither, apparently is being an American. He emphasized proudly to masses in Germany that he is, a citizen of the world not just the United States of America. When he says, "We Are The Ones We Have Been Waiting For", who exactly is he addressing? Certainly not the majority of citizens of the United States of America.

What better way to achieve the goals of the jihad than to install a stealth candidate, sympathetic to the Muslim cause? This candidate must have unique qualities and must never compromise his background. Who better than Obama fits this bill? He seems to have no background and takes pains to keep it vague and sanitized, despite the fact that what is known is spotty at best.

America has a stain on it in the form of slavery and racial prejudice. That stain is quickly dissolving in America, so time is of the essence. Barack was in danger of losing the primary so racial issues had to be re-ignited. It wasn’t enough, so they had to be inflamed. Once ablaze, that fire burned out of control and resulted in a 90% vote for Barack in the AA community. All this for a man who has done little to advance AA causes and in fact much to undermine them in his short time in office. The tenements of his district in Chicago and his well paid slumlord patrons bear grim testimony to that fact. This is a man who turned a blind eye to the poor and suffering AA’s in his own community.

But America, in its quest to rid itself of racial prejudice once and for all has embraced a man they know little good about. The Party's elitist’s have, in all their wisdom, embraced a man they know little good about. The media elites in all their wisdom have embraced this man and have refused to expose him. Why? To question him would be racist.

The AA community has embraced this man and see him as a beacon of hope and change. And why wouldn’t they? He looks like them and promises that he is sympathetic to their struggles. We identify with those we think are like us. He is black but also white and Arab. He has led a charmed life of elite private schools and has never endured the hardships or struggles that many of the AA’s who wish to see themselves in him have.

During an interview, he made a slip saying “my Muslim faith”. Barack is free to practice his Muslim faith if he so chooses. The greatest thing about this country is that you are free to practice whatever religion you wish. The question is not whether he’s a Muslim but rather, why is he hiding it?

TUCC is simply a storefront draped in Christian window covering. But behind the glass is the pulpit of a few ideologies, many of which directly attack the tenets of Christianity. One of those ideologies is that of the Nation of Islam in America.

Louis Farrakhan is the leading spokesman of the Nation of Islam. His followers are often seen front and center during Rev. Wright’s sermons with their starched white shirts and bow ties, often tapping the Rev. on his back when he makes a point with which they agree. Christian churches preach tolerance but do not have large populations of Islamic followers in them. Because, no matter how inclusive that church might be, Christianity and Islam are different faiths. It’s not because they wouldn’t be welcomed, they would. But the ideologies are vastly separate.

If TUCC is really a Christian church, which is about love and inclusion, how could it espouse the teachings of Black Liberation Theology, which is about hatred and exclusion? The answer is simple; they can’t. It goes against all things Christian. You cannot promote and uplift one segment of humanity while despising others.

There is a reason Barack hides this relationship, for Louis Farrakhan is a radical. Louis Farrakhan was prohibited by Bill Clinton from receiving a 1 billion dollar gift from the Pan Am 103 bombing terrorist Muammar Qaddafi. A gift that was to be used for…..: community organizing. Barack marched in Louis Farrakhan’s Million Man March. Michelle is very good friends with the Farrakhan’s. The very same Louis Farrakhan who was named "Man of the Year" and honored by...Barack's Christian church. The very same man whom traveled with Rev Wright to Libya to meet with Qaddafi.

President Ronald Reagan killed Qaddafi’s sons in an air strike aimed at Moammar himself. Do you think Qaddafi would like to see the US paid back for the killing of his family? You bet he would. Now, America’s chickens have come home to roost….Louis Farrakhan lives in the same neighborhood as Barack, Wright, Pfleger and Ayers.

Rev. Wright is extolled as Barack's mentor in his autobiography. The preacher who was once a Muslim but converted to TUCC's version of Christianity: Black Liberation but Hate White theology. The preacher who taught his flock "God Damn America". "US of KKKA, white America invented the Aids virus to kill black people, Hillary ain’t never been called a Ni@@er, who bombed Hiroshima and Nagasaki" preacher. Never mind that Christians and especially preachers typically don’t say "God Damn" in church, never mind that the people of the USA find the KKK a disgusting and vile organization and all but extinguished it, pushing it to the underground wing nut fringes of society, never mind that the USA didn’t invent the Aids virus, never mind that Hillary has been called every vile name known in the English language, never mind that the Japanese snuck up on our country and slaughtered thousands of Americans in their quest for global dominance with the Germans.

I say never mind because anyone in their right mind would have written this guy off in a New York second for the dangerous nut job he is. Not Barack. Nope. Barack lapped this mindset up for 20 long years. 20! And he "didn’t find anything the Reverend said to be particularly divisive." His words, not mine. Not divisive??? Well, things aren’t divisive when you believe in them.

And as for Wright’s disdain towards Hillary? Well, she’s a Clinton and her husband kept 1 billion dollars from going to Wright’s dear friend and TUCC’s Man of the Year….Louis Farrakhan. In short, the Clintons robbed him and he wants revenge.

And what of all that money going into Barrack’s campaign coffers? Where is that coming from? Hillary was thought to have more than an adequate war chest for her campaign with over a $100 million dollars. And that was before she got started! Donations she accumulated over a long period of time. How it is Barack was able to raise $750 million seemingly overnight? Who has that kind of money besides wealthy Muslim oil producing countries? Who are these financiers?

His other “mentors” are equally as troubling.

Barack’s first known mentor in America was Frank Davis. “In his autobiographical Dreams from My Father, U.S. Senator and Democratic Party presidential candidate Barack Obama wrote about "Frank", a friend of his grandfather's.” (Source Wikipedia) Frank Marshall Davis was a known member of the Communist Party USA and lived less than 50 miles from Baracks grandfather. (On his mother’s side.)

Group Condemns Sarah Palin for Not Killing Disabled Baby in Abortion

Washington, DC (LifeNews.com) -- A writer for a libertarian group has written perhaps the most scathing attack on pro-life vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin since the Alaska governor was announced weeks ago as John McCain's running mate. Nicholas Provenzo condemns Palin for the birth of her baby Trig, who has Down syndrome.

Provenzo, who writes for the Center for the Advancement of Capitalism, not only bashes her for allowing Trig to be born, but says she should have made the so-called morally justifiable decision to kill him in an abortion.

The Center for the Advancement of Capitalism bills itself as a group "dedicated to advancing individual rights and economic freedom through Ayn Rand's philosophy of Objectivism."
Individual rights? The person in the womb is also an individual yet the pro-death, pro-eugenics mentality persists...some have learned absolutely nothing from history or the moral law.

While as many as 80-90 percent of unborn children diagnosed with Down syndrome become victims of abortion, Palin didn't let her child become a statistic. Palin, who has deeply-felt pro-life views, gave birth to her fifth child in April and the baby was diagnosed with the condition.

Pro-Death Obama Slams McCain on Abortion "Rights"

ST. PAUL, Minn. — Barack Obama has launched a broadside against John McCain’s opposition to abortion rights and moved one of the most divisive issues in modern American politics to the airwaves on a large scale for the first time in this presidential campaign....

“Let me tell you: If Roe vs. Wade is overturned, the lives and health of women will be put at risk. That's why this election is so important,” says the nurse-practitioner who narrates Obama’s ad. “John McCain's out of touch with women today. McCain wants to take away our right to choose [to murder unborn babies]. That's what women need to understand. That's how high the stakes are....”

Obama supports abortion rights....[and infanticide after babies are born]

McCain aides didn’t respond to a question about the ad, but Republican Party communications director Danny Diaz responded by attacking Obama's opposition to an Illinois bill that advocates said would protect babies who survived abortions...
Perpetuating one of the greatest moral evils of all time. Who but an agent of Satan would engage in promoting fear that the demonic "right" to commit the genocidal murder of the innocent unborn might be abolished for all time for the good of society?

Catholic League on Jay Leno - Again

Jay Leno apologized yesterday for asking actor Ryan Phillippe to give his “gayest look” during a recent show. The actor was quite uncomfortable with Leno’s quip and the late-night host came under fire by gay rights groups for his remarks.

Commenting today is Catholic League president Bill Donohue:

“We have a fat file on Leno’s anti-Catholic comments, and with the lone exception of his phone call to me apologizing for his Catholic-bashing rant on February 7, 1997, we haven’t heard a word from him regarding our many complaints. Just last July we issued a news release calling him to task for bashing priests and the pope six times in five weeks. And he was at it again on February 18 of this year, leading me to ask the show’s executive producer Debbie Vickers the following question: ‘It is not likely that all of Leno’s writers are bigots, so could you please identify the person who is obsessed with bashing the Catholic Church?....’

Naked Man Ad Riles Boston Catholics

BOSTON -- A fitness club ad running in Boston magazine that depicts nuns sketching a naked man has triggered protests among some members of the Bay State's Catholic community.

The ad for the Equinox Fitness Club is running in this month's issue and some Catholic organizations blasted the photo saying it was offensive.

C.J. Doyle of the Catholic Action League of Massachusetts said the ad shows contempt for the Catholic religion...

Suburban Journal Management and Advertisers Need to Hear from Us!

From today's Town Talk:

Taking back the church

THE ST. LOUIS Review won't print this because they're neo-fascist. But I'll tell you what, if Catholics are going to survive in St. Louis, we've got to get together and start to fight for the rights of women. We need women ordained. We need priests. We need more power to the lay people. With the Nazi we got now in this diocese, we're not going to see change unless the people who are the church stand up and fight scream and yell to take our church back. Please print this in the Journal. Just like St. Stanislaus, you got to go to the public media to get the word out.
Source: South County Journal, Town Talk for Jan 16

It's unbelievable that this was permitted to be printed in the Suburban Journal and posted on its web site. It is reprehensible that such hatred is allowed. The fact that such words come from an apparently severely troubled individual is no excuse for allowing bigotted name-calling and calls for violent actions to be taken.

The South County Journal and the Corporate office need to issue an apology and see that policies are effected that would no longer allow the Journal to be used to promote such hatred and calls for violent action against the Catholic Church and its Archbishop.

Below, I have posted the addresses, phone number, names and email addresses to those who should be contacted about this grave matter. Let's put them on notice and let them know how faithful Catholics feel about this gross injustice toward Archbishop Burke and the Church, and perhaps, we should let their advtertisers know as well.

"The Most Anti-Christmas Film Possible"

VATICAN CITY, December 19, 2007 (LifeSiteNews.com) - The Vatican newspaper L'Osservatore Romano added its voice yesterday in condemnation of the newly released film 'The Golden Compass" and the book series on which the film was based. In a lengthy editorial on December 18, the paper said Golden Compass was "the most anti-Christmas film possible."

This latest confirmation of Catholic opposition to the film, puts into sharp relief once again the positive review which the film received from the film office of the US Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB). After several Catholic leaders and many lay faithful contacted the USCCB with their concerns the review was officially withdrawn. Since then a growing number of Catholic bishops and archbishops have publicly condemned the film.

The Vatican paper's editorial explained, "It's a film that leaves one cold, because it brings with it the coldness and the desperation of rebellion, solitude and individualism."

Archbishop Burke on "The Golden Compass"

...Recently, the pastors in our nation have cautioned the faithful, especially parents, regarding the film "The Golden Compass." Through George Henry, superintendent of Catholic education in the Archdiocese of St. Louis, parents and teachers were warned that the author of the books ("His Dark Materials," by Philip Pullman) from which the movie is drawn is an avowed atheist who has a particular hatred of the Catholic Church.

As archbishop, I caution all Catholics regarding the atheistic and antiCatholic nature of Pullman’s writings, upon which "The Golden Compass" is based. If you wish further and more in-depth information, I recommend the publication of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights, "The Golden Compass: Agenda Unmasked," which can be obtained through the League’s website, www.catholicleague.org. I also commend the book by Peter Vere and Sandra Miesel, "Pied Piper of Atheism: Philip Pullman and Children’s Fantasy," published by Ignatius Press (www.ignatius.com).

Before concluding, I wish also to correct an erroneous statement made in a commentary in the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, titled "After ruckus over its roots, ‘Compass’ film mollifies some" (Dec. 8, 2007, p. A23). The commentary claims that the Catholic bishops of our nation viewed the film and praised it. The statement is false. A most defective review of the film was published by Catholic News Service. The review has by now been removed from the website of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops. The review was not based on a viewing of the film by bishops and was not endorsed by the bishops....

Catholicism Tarred by Christian Film...

And this, coming on the heels of "The Golden Compass"...

On December 7, Gener8Xion Entertainment, a prominent Protestant film company, will release “Noëlle.” Catholic League president Bill Donohue disputes the claim that the movie is merely “a parable of forgiveness and grace”:

“We’ve seen the movie and it’s a gem. In the synopsis provided by Gener8Xion, it accurately describes Jonathan Keene as ‘a young Catholic priest seemingly devoid of genuine human emotion’; his job is ‘to do what he does best: shut down a failing parish.’ Then there is ‘the child-like Fr. Simeon Joyce, a faithful but disillusioned priest who blatantly disregards church regulations, uses church monies to pay an old fisherman’s medical bills and spends most of his time drinking at the local pub.’ Both priests are portrayed as losers....

“Throughout the film, confession is trivialized, celibacy is ridiculed, the Virgin Mary is disrespected, nuns are belittled, last rites are mocked, and priestly vocations are caricatured. In short, that which is uniquely Catholic is trashed. However, the plot and the acting are so deliriously absurd that it is impossible for us to get too worked up about this flick....

The USCCB's "unfortunate" review of "The Golden Compass"

Unfortunate is one way to categorize Harry Forbes' review and the USCCB 'approval'...

Carl Olson also has a nice commentary on this movie at Ignatius Insight here.

U.S. Bishops Give "Golden Compass" a "Thumbs Up"...

...Is anyone really surprised?

For weeks, controversy has surrounded this film as noted here:

“THE GOLDEN COMPASS” SPARKS PROTEST October 9, 2007

PHILIP PULLMAN’S DECEIT IS APPALLING November 2, 2007

SCHOLASTIC PRESSED ON “THE GOLDEN COMPASS”; NO MORE VENTURES WITH PULLMAN SOUGHT November 13, 2007

“THE GOLDEN COMPASS” PLEASES NO ONE November 20, 2007

“GOLDEN COMPASS” SPIN DOCTORS November 26, 2007

The USCCB Office for Film & Broadcasting classification for this film is A-II -- adults and adolescents. Harry Forbes' glowing yet misinformed review can be read here.

Thankfully though, AmericanPapist has been diligently covering the matter, also:
You’ve probably heard about the controversy surrounding New Line Cinema’s upcoming movie The Golden Compass and the claims that the book it is based on by Philip Pullman is anti-Catholic.

Today the USCCB Office for Film and Broadcasting released a very favorable review of the movie, discounting the many criticisms and calls for boycotts it has received.

I have commented on the USCCB’s review, and proposed what I think is a compelling argument for why Catholics and other Christians should prudently consider avoiding it.

This movie deserves to be avoided as do the USCCB movie reviews (Brokeback Mountain, anyone?)...

Fauithful Catholics would do well to review the Catholic League articles as well as the commentary by Tom Peters at AmericanPapist before funding and rewarding Pullman and his "Golden Compass"...

Post-Dispatch Journalist Picks "Turkeys"

Deb Peterson, allegedly a journalist for the Post-Disgrace, has taken on the arduous task choosing noteworthy individuals in the St Louis area and beyond for her prestigious "turkey" awards.

She states:
TURKEY TIME: It is the somewhat anticipated, somewhat dreaded time of the year for this columnist to hand out her "Turkey" awards for Thanksgiving 2007. If your particular gobbler's carcass didn't get picked over, don't stew. We'll just have to try it again next year. But for now, the winners are:

Presumably as an act of humility, she elected to exclude herself and other worthy individuals, (J.C. Corcoran comes to mind), while choosing some who actually do what they are charged to do:

The Archbishop of Perpetual Turkey, Raymond Burke, had another year of ill-planned press and recognition. He threatened to excommunicate more local Catholics; caused a ruckus by publicly protesting a fundraiser to benefit the Bob Costas Cancer Center because it was going to include pro-choice supporter Sheryl Crow; and warned Rudy Giuliani that he would not give him Communion because the GOP presidential hopeful is pro-choice. Hopefully someone can persuade Burke to keep his gobbler down and out of the spotlight for the upcoming year. Nothing would make me more thankful than to not to have to give him this recognition again.

I would think that most people care not a whit about about Peterson's opinion, especially considering that, as a journalist, her grasp of facts in the above instances is woefully deficient.

Rather than refuting in detail each of her qualifying turkeydom examples, a brief explanation should more than suffice, as the details are contained within this site and elsewhere. As a matter of fact, so plentiful was the available information providing the reasons why Archbishop Burke performed his actions faithfully and diligently, it is difficult to understand why a journalist, supposedly with some investigative skills, was unable to find them.

One might even be led to believe that the "journalist" has an "ax to grind," so to speak, in a manner similar to that of J.C. Corcoran of recent days. We can actually see her first critical review of Archbishop-elect Burke back in December of 2003 here. The link at this post no longer works but it provided a clear and easy to understand response by Dr. Arthur Hippler, the Justice and Peace Director of the Diocese of La Crosse...

It's clear that things have changed little at the Post, and elsewhere...a persistent ingratitude for a good and faithful shepherd for the people of God in St Louis.

I am reminded that St Thomas Aquinas teaches us something about ingratitude and thanksgiving:

It would seem that the ingratitude, whereby a subsequent sin causes the return of sins previously forgiven, is a special sin. For, the giving of thanks belongs to counter passion, which is a necessary condition of justice. But justice is a special virtue. Therefore this ingratitude is a special sin. Thanksgiving is a special virtue. But ingratitude is opposed to thanksgiving. Therefore ingratitude is a special sin.

In addition to praying for Archbishop Burke and his family, we should also pray for those who feel it is their calling in life to attack and ridicule Archbishop Burke, the Church, and St Louis Catholics. We can be thankful that our Lord sees it fitting to provide us this cross to offer up to Him as a means penance and reparation.
