...the Knights of Columbus council (4561) at St. Louis University in St. Louis, MO, is putting on a public screening of Mel Gibson's "The Passion of the Christ" this Wednesday [Feb 9] at 6:30 PM.
FYI, a little over two years ago, after some friends of mine and myself were exposed to the Knights and realized what an awesome vessel for Catholic university reform this organization is by nature, we reactivated SLU's dormant university K of C council and, following strict guidelines of Catholic orthodoxy in our admissions committees, we now have 50 members.
We sponsor traditional devotions on campus (chanted Chaplet of Divine Mercy on Fridays at 3:00, and the Holy Rosary of the BVM prayed partly in Latin every Tuesday). We offer a more traditional form of Roman Catholicism to students on campus and it seems like the Holy Spirit just can't stop providing for us. This public screening of The Passion will mark our biggest step yet in exposing all university students to our traditional charism and help all believers and non-believers alike to prepare for a penitential Lenten season.
In case anyone in the St. Louis area would like to come, the showing will be in Kelley Auditorium at St. Louis University.
If you know SLU's campus, that's just east of the Busch Student Center. Space may be limited, but I honestly have no idea what the turn out will be like. We will be taking donations to cover the significant copyright costs and anything collected beyond that will go to a charity of our choosing. Possibly SLU's Campus Ministry Tsunamai Relief Fund. Our Campus Ministry has also been kind enough to co-sponsor this exciting event! Dominus Vobiscum
