Some Dallas "Cafeteria" Catholics Irked by Bishops' Letter on Abortion

Some North Texas Catholics are upset with a letter written and distributed by their local bishops, saying it amounts to an endorsement of GOP presidential candidate Sen. John McCain.

The letter by Bishop Kevin Farrell of the Diocese of Dallas and Bishop Kevin Vann of the Diocese of Fort Worth says in part:
“To vote for a candidate who supports the intrinsic evil of abortion or `abortion rights’ when there is a morally acceptable alternative would be to cooperate in the evil – and, therefore, morally impermissible.”
Maybe someone should send a copy of this to Orlando Bishop Wenski?
Nicole LeBlanc said several people walked out of Dallas' Holy Trinity Catholic Church during the 11 a.m. Sunday Mass, when the letter was read at the time usually reserved for a homily.

Ms. LeBlanc, an Obama supporter, said she, too, was upset.

“As a Catholic, we’re taught about being independent moral agents with free will,” she said. “That letter from the bishops is basically telling us that if we vote for a candidate who supports abortion rights, we are basically immoral and our souls are imperiled.”
That's right, you damn yourself by supporting a willing and active agent of the devil. How anyone, especially a Catholic, could even think about voting for an individual who would deny basic human rights and health care to a baby who would survive a botched abortion is beyond incredulous. Hope? Hardly! These people seem to be suffering from hopenosis!

One wonders just what part of killing babies she doesn’t understand? The 10 Commandments apparently mean nothing to such people.

Sista LeBlanc apparently was the recipient of failed catechesis...And now that faithful bishops attempt to bring the truth to the lost sheep, some flee in haste to protect the demons they have chosen to embrace and the darkness they have grown to enjoy. Sad!

Oh, if it were that simple! In my opinion it's not so black and white. Abortion is not the only moral matter to consider. One might ask just how "pro life" McCain and his republican party are when they rush into wars where life is hardly valued and thousands of innocent lives are taken. Human dignity and life are important, regardless of the age or nationality of the human.
