Pride Weekend...Here's St Francis Xavier in NY

I was a bit surprised to see this on our local TV newscast. Then I checked out the "parish" in New York. Is the local bishop AWOL? Where is Cardinal Egan?

This is from the St Francis Xavier "Social Groups & Activities" page:
Catholic Lesbians: Meets once a month for prayer, conversation and support. The second Friday of the month, in the West Room, 7pm. For more information, contact SFXWomen@aol.com

Gay and Lesbian Catholics: Women and men gather on the first and third Fridays to pray and celebrate their lives in the context of a Faith community. Meet in the West Room at 7pm. Contact SFXGLGroup@aol.com

And from its Latest News Page:
Catholic Lesbians and Their Friends
Friday, July 13, 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM
2nd floor, West Room
Three members of a local religious congregation of sisters have asked to meet with us as they examine their own sense of church, inclusiveness and hospitality. The community is seeking ways to engage with LGBT folk and is looking for our input. For more information, please contact SFXWomen@aol.com.
Some "sisters" want to examine their sense of church...

NYC’s 38th Annual LGBT Pride March Sunday, June 24th
The Church of St. Francis Xavier is the only church in NewYork City, maybe one of a handful in the world, to march hunder their banner as a Roman Catholic parish in the Pride Parade. We welcome all, as did Christ. So we ask you—our chosen church family—to walk with us and represent a parish that truly lives the Gospel. Along with the celebration will be evangelization. (We hand out brochures about St. Francis Xavier Church and all its ministries to spectators, many of whom have left the church because of hurts and misunderstandings.) Attend the 9:00 AM Mass with us and together let’s head uptown to our starting point (somewhere near 52nd Street and Fifth Avenue; more information to come). If you have any questions, please e-mail SFXWomen@aol.com or SFXGLGroup@aol.com.Your sister and brother in Christ, Stephanie Samoy and John Weber.

I wonder if any of the local "parishes" marched in the parade here today...?
