Christ's Purpose in Marriage
Instituted for the three-fold purpose of propagating the human race, of securing the mutual happiness of the husband and wife, and of educating the offspring, neither husband nor wife might by a guilty abuse of their powers frustrate the divine purpose. They might not be blind to the respect and love and confidence due to their helpmate. They might not criminally neglect the physical or moral well-being of their little ones, or omit to train them to be useful to themselves and society in life and to fit them for citizenship in the eternal kingdom of heaven.
