Diocese of La Crosse Eliminates Positions

*** Corrected ****

One of the positions whose hours were cut from 40 hours to 35 hours is that held by Dr. Arthur Hippler, the Director of the Office of Justice and Peace. Other positions with cut hours include those of Director of the Office of Family Life, and the Director of the Office of Youth Ministry. Positions eliminated are the assistant director of Catechesis and Evangelization, Diocesan Annual Appeal coordinator, secretary of the Office of Catholic Schools, and assistant director of Ministries. Other positions also had hours reduced.

Bishop-elect Jerome Listecki, when he is installed as Bishop in March, could reverse some or all of these decisions which were made by diocesan administrator, Rev. Richard Gilles, inconsultation with Bisho-elect Listecki.

Perhaps Archbishop Burke could bring Dr. Hippler to the St. Louis Archdiocese if Bishop-elect Listecki leaves the situation in La Crosse as it is? Dr. Hippler's many good articles, which are were no longer on line the last time I checked, were some of the best reading regarding Social Justice and Peace issues. One could easily understand why then Bishop Burke hired him for the La Cross diocese.
