Vatican Archbishop Burke: Public Repentance is Required for Pro-Abort Politicians

October 12, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – Speaking at the Human Life International World Prayer Congress Saturday, Archbishop Raymond Burke received sustained applause when he noted that Catholic politicians who support abortion are required to repent publicly.

Speaking to pro-life leaders from 45 nations, the Prefect of the Apostolic Signatura (the highest Vatican court) also noted that those who recognize the scandal caused by such public, dissident Catholics assist the Church in repairing a serious breach, but are nevertheless often ridiculed for it...

Archbishop Burke stressed that “both bishops and the faithful” must be obedient to the Magisterium...“If the shepherd is not obedient the flock easily gives way to confusion and error.”

Burke, who is also a member of the Congregation for Bishops added: “A most tragic example of the lack of obedience of faith, also on the part of certain Bishops, was the response of many to the Encyclical Letter Humanae vitae of Pope Paul VI, published on July 25, 1968. The confusion which resulted has led many Catholics into habits of sin in what pertains to the procreation and education of human life.”...

The Vatican prelate [also stated]:

Lying or failing to tell the truth, however, is never a sign of charity. A unity which is not founded on the truth of the moral law is not the unity of the Church. The Church’s unity is founded on speaking the truth with love.

The person who experiences scandal at public actions of Catholics, which are gravely contrary to the moral law, not only does not destroy unity but invites the Church to repair what is clearly a serious breach in Her life.

Were he not to experience scandal at the public support of attacks on human life and the family, his conscience would be uninformed or dulled about the most sacred realities.

Gay Marriage and the End of Christian Civilization

Back in the 90s when Fr. Paul Marx, founder of HLI, was asked his opinion about the efforts to legalize "same-sex unions" he commented in his usual forthright fashion, "When they do that," he said, "it's the end." He meant "the end" of the Christian civilization whose values used to form the basis of American common life. Fr. Marx, in a prophetic sense, saw rightly that a society cannot survive the perverse manipulation of the very structure of reality that God Himself has revealed to us, one very fundamental element of which is the institution of marriage. When we allow that to be changed-"It's the end."

In 2009, 52% of the voting population in California endorsed Proposition 8 which ratified the constitutional protection of marriage as between a man and a woman. One might argue that even 52% was shockingly low on something so important, but the people won that battle despite the veritable war of the homosexual militants to sink that Proposition. In fact, Christian decency won and the structure of reality stayed intact, at least in this aspect of law in California, until this week when a single judge just nullified 7 million votes and the will of the people and lifted the "ban" on gay marriage. There was rejoicing in Sodom on the Bay, but how sad for our nation and even for our poor, misguided world that will weaken in its opposition to the homosexual lifestyle as a result of this decision.

So why, you ask, is gay marriage wrong? Let me count the ways.

Another bishop speaks out on Prop. 8 ruling, says decision puts culture’s sanity at risk

(CNA/EWTN News) -- Weighing in on what he called the “misguided” ruling by a federal judge who struck down California's Proposition 8 last week, Bishop Thomas J. Olmsted of the Diocese of Phoenix, Arizona, declared on Tuesday evening that what “is at stake here is cultural sanity and viability.”...

In a statement released on the Diocese of Phoenix's website on Tuesday, Bishop Olmsted wrote that the “misguided decision of Judge Vaughn Walker, striking down as unconstitutional the California Marriage Law called Proposition 8, cannot be passed over in silence.”

“Labeling homosexual 'marriage' as 'a right' is not an enlightened idea of the 21st century,” the bishop asserted. “It is a novel form of a resurrected falsehood from more than 2000 years ago. It will not stand the test of time, just as it cannot withstand popular opinion now....

Pres[__]ent Obama, Speaker Pelosi pull out all stops to pass massive pro-abortion health care bill -- the days immediately ahead will decide the issue

WASHINGTON -- Pres[__]ent Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi are making a final, all-out push to ram through a massive health care restructuring bill that the National Right to Life Committee (NRLC) has branded "the most pro-abortion single piece of legislation that has ever come to the House floor for a vote."

The health care bill (H.R. 3590) has already passed the Senate, on December 24, 2009. In order to enact it, however, Obama and Pelosi must convince a majority in the House of Representatives to also vote for the bill.

The Associated Press reported on March 7: "In private pitches to Democrats, Pres[__]ent Barack Obama says he will persuade Congress to pass his health care overhaul even if it kills him and even if he has to ask deeply distrustful lawmakers to trust him on a promise the White House doesn't have the power to keep. . . .The party's strategy calls for House Democrats, despite many misgivings, to go along with a health care bill the Senate passed in December [HR. 3590]. Obama would sign it into law, but senators would promise to make numerous changes demanded by House Democrats."

"House members who vote for the Senate bill will be accountable to their constituents for what the Senate bill contains, including its pro-abortion mandates and subsidies, without regard to . . solemn assurances that Congress will revisit the issue in future legislation, or any other artifice or gimmick," said NRLC Legislative Director Douglas Johnson, in a detailed statement on the Senate bill issued by NRLC on March 5. "Any House member who votes for the Senate health bill is casting a career-defining pro-abortion vote."

The NRLC statement describes seven separate pro-abortion components in the 2,407-page Senate bill, including provisions that would allow direct federal funding of abortion, federal subsidies to help purchase private insurance that covers abortion, and federal regulations that would expand access to abortion. NRLC noted that these problems could have been prevented only by a comprehensive pro-life amendment such as that authored by Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mi.). The House passed the Stupak Amendment on November 7, 2009, but the pro-life amendment was opposed by Pres[__]ent Obama and later rejected by the Senate, so it will not be part of the health care bill that the House actually votes on.

Pro-abort Nancy Pelosi - an obstinate, lying heretic

Pelosi Calls Pro-Life Democrats Liars, Third Abortion Funding Denial This Week

In a press conference today. House Speaker Nancy Pelosi denied the abortion funding in the Senate health care bill for the third time in the last seven days. Reacting to a promise from pro-life Democrats to kill the bill over the massive abortion funding it contains, Pelosi essentially called them liars.

This morning, Rep. Bart Stupak said he and pro-life Democrats were prepared to vote against the bill because it funds abortions and contains other pro-abortion problems.

Pelosi got exasperated when a reporter asked at her weekly press conference about their unwillingness to support the bill over abortion.

“Let me say this: This is not about abortion! This is a bill about providing quality, affordable health care for all Americans,” she said, according to Politico....

She daily continues to condemn herself by her own lies, her stance as a death peddler, and her continued obstinacy in open defiance of God and the Church. Pray for the soul of this ardent disciple of Satan that she may repent while she still can.

John McCormack, a pro-life writer at the conservative Weekly Standard, said Pelosi is lying about the abortion funding component of the Senate bill...

Richard Doerflinger, the associate director of the pro-life office of the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops put Pelosi's myth to bed in response to the second set of falsehoods....

Is it not the sign of a mentally disturbed crackpot to call those of whom she wants support of Resident 0bama Deathcare LIARS? Is that how one gains support? I fear she is so consumed with evil that her soul and conscience are now dead. And, as usual, where are the bishops?

The following is a letter from Archbishop Burke to Members of the Marian Catechist Apostolate:

22 January 2009—Day of Penance for Violations to the Dignity of the Human Person

Dear Members of the Marian Catechist Apostolate,

Today is the 36^th Anniversary of the U.S. Supreme Court's infamous decision in the cases Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton, by which the highest court of our nation took away the safeguard of the most fundamental of all rights, the right to life, from the most vulnerable members of the human family, the unborn.  Rightly, the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops has, for some time, designated this day as a Day of Penance for Violations to the Dignity of the Human Person, and of Prayer for the Full Restoration of the Legal Guarantee of the Right to Life. January 22^nd is to be observed "as a particular day of penance for violations to the dignity of the human person committed through acts of abortion, and of prayer for the full restoration of the legal guarantee of the right to life" (General Instruction of the Roman Missal, no. 373).

The legacy of the just-mentioned decisions has been an unconscionable decline in the respect for all human life.  By now, you are familiar with the latest and most heinous anti-life legislation the people of the United States of America are facing: the Freedom of Choice Act (FOCA).  The passage of FOCA would lift all restrictions on procured abortion, force taxpayers to participate in the funding of procured abortions; revoke all informed consent, parental notification and conscience protection laws; and force even Catholic hospitals to perform abortions, which clearly would necessitate the closing of Catholic hospitals.  I ask you to pray for the defeat of FOCA and to do all you can to work against its passage, while also working to protect existing pro-life legislation. In a special way, I address you, the members of the Marian Catechist Apostolate, on this Day of Penance. Catholics in St. Louis Asked to Participate in Campaign against FOCA

The Archdiocese of St. Louis is joining a nationwide effort to fight passage of the Freedom of Choice Act.

Parishes here will participate in the "Fight FOCA Postcard Campaign" after Masses the weekend of Jan. 24-25. In signing their postcards, Catholics will be asking legislators to oppose the pro-abortion act....

Let's call it what it really is - government sponsored infanticide and genocide...It's a treasonous crime that any politician would sponsor or support such anti-life, anti-family, anti-society, anti-human, anti-liberty act. Roy Bourgeois threatened with excommunication

It's about time!
From the National UNCatholic Reporter we learn:

Maryknoll Fr. Roy Bourgeois has been threatened with excommunication by the Vatican's Congregation of the Doctrine of the Faith for his support of women’s ordination, according to a letter made public today....

He apparently received notification from the Congregation on or about Oct. 21 and has 30 days to recant his “belief and public statements that support the ordination of women in our Church, or (he) will be excommunicated.”

As usual, St Louis' own group of heretics and schismatics, Catholic Action Network, has sent out an email notice to petition the Holy Father. This petition was started by the Women's ?Ordination? Conference. The text, in part, of the email is as follows:

On October 21, 2008, the Vatican sent a letter to the Maryknoll community stating that Fr. Roy Bourgeois, a Maryknoll priest of 36 years, has 30 days to recant his statement of public support of women's ordination or he will be automatically excommunicated.

Fr. Bourgeois co-presided and gave the homily during the ordination ceremony of Roman Catholic Womenpriest, Janice Sevre-Duszynska, which took place on August 9 in Lexington, Ky.

The Women's Ordination Conference has initiated a petition, with Roman Catholics Womenpriests and Call to Action as partners, to support Fr. Bourgeois. The petition will be sent to Pope Benedict XVI; the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith; Apostolic Nuncio to the U.S., Archbishop Pietro Sambi; and Maryknoll Superior General, John Sivalon. Please forward the petition link to your friends. In addition, we encourage you to send letters to the editor and op eds to your local papers.

What a group of malcontents and misguided souls...By the way, I will not post the petition link here...I will not be a party to the heresy embraced by these people - all of them should be excommunicated, shouldn't they?

To Whom Joe Biden Bows

Take a leap of faith. Assume Sen. Joe Biden is an intellectually rigorous man who never fails to act on his own convictions when he votes in the Senate -- and that he is especially careful in thinking things through when he votes on matters of life and death.

Now, try to entertain Joe Biden's logic -- on a matter of life and death.....

I know - it is asking a lot, but this demonstrates just how incoherent and insane are the positions held and promoted by anti-life/anti-family Catholic politicians.

For Biden -- if you take him at his word -- the question of when life begins is not determined by science but by religion. It is not only a multiple-choice question, but a question with multiple correct answers....On "Meet the Press," Tom Brokaw -- in a half-hearted way -- challenged Biden on the contradiction between his affirmation that life begins at conception and his pro-abortion voting record....

And now the lies and deceptions come spewing forth:

"No, what I voted (was) against curtailing the right, criminalizing abortion. I voted against telling everyone else in the country that they have to accept my religiously based view that it's a moment of conception," said Biden....

Yes, though he "believes" that life begins at conception, he opposes legislation aimed at curtailing the killing of innocent life. Imagine this confused man in earlier times:
"No, what I voted against was curtailing the right to own slaves - of criminalizing slavery. I voted against telling everyone else in the country that they have to accept my religiously based view that every person is equal in the sight of God and in the our country."

On July 18, 2006, and on April 11, 2007, he voted -- along with Republican presidential candidate John McCain -- for the Stem Cell Research Enhancement Act... [which] said taxpayers those who share Biden's understanding that life begins at conception must pay taxes to fund researchers who kill what Biden affirms are human beings. (The bill did not become law because President Bush vetoed it twice.)

Two questions are then asked of Biden with respect to his votes which are oppsed to his stated "beliefs":

1) Should the government approve the deliberate killing of innocent human lives, and

2) Should the government force taxpayers to pay for it.

As a man who has no courage of his convictions,

Biden answered both questions: yes.

Biden approves of the murder of the innocent while claiming to be a faithful Catholic. Frankly, I'm sick and tired of listening to these charlatans like Biden and Pelosi ridicule the Church and I'm growing equally tired and impatient of their bishops who refuse to adequately address them and the faithful.

When it came to these issues of life and death, Joe Biden would not have forced Americans to bow down to his convictions, he would have forced them to bow down to someone else's.

Biden [and Pelosi and others] would have us be governed, not by the natural moral law, but by the tyranny of evil and injustice. May God have mercy on their souls and the souls of their ecclesiastical leaders who aid and abet them by their silence and inaction.

Singing "How much is that doggie in the window" may even become a "hate crime!"

Kameny made the bold claim that the founding fathers of the United States implicitly approved of uninhibited sexual exploits or "sexual perversion" when they wrote the Declaration of Independence, because he believes it is part of the "Inalienable Right, of the 'Pursuit of Happiness'".

The "Pursuit of Happiness" becomes the "Pursuit of Misery and Death" - and we are to call it "Good!"

It's probably only a few years (or months away). "Family values" will take on another new and corrupted meaning and the sheeple will rejoice in how open minded and tolerant they have become.

But we will be told to think of the new entreprenurial ventures - human/animal dating services, special catering opportunities, a new "breed" of divorce lawyers...

In Mexico, 'Saint Death' Statue Inspires Followers

Seeing what is going on in the world, this comes as no surprise. The 'temple leader' even employs the very same rhetoric we hear from the left.

SANTA MARIA CUAUTEPEC, Mexico — Practically overnight, this has gone from a forgotten small town to a religious mecca where pilgrims travel hundreds of miles to seek answers to their prayers.

Their fervor is freaking people out.

While a similar shrine to a Catholic saint would likely be a source of pride, many residents are appalled at a 75-foot-tall statue of a skeleton shrouded in black, Santa Muerte (Saint Death). Although the Santa Muerte icon has existed for decades in working-class Mexican neighborhoods, never has it towered so ominously.

Yes, Satan is being elevated to new heights these days. He is becoming 'God' for many of the confused and deceived.

The temple's leader, a young man with a goatee and piercing eyes who is known as Godfather Endoque, has warned that worshipers might respond violently if the temple is shut down. Endoque said he wants peaceful coexistence, adding that town officials should realize that many of their own citizens are closeted Santa Muerte devotees.

"This isn't a figure or an image, it's a form of faith and love," Endoque said. "Let's respect each other. You can have your saints. We will have ours."

It's not "a figure or an image"? That's right, deny what it really is just as the evil one denies the truth. The man speaks like a politician.

The Catholic Church in Mexico has denounced Santa Muerte, saying she is linked to Satanism...

Yet some professed Catholics disagree with the Church about this practice being incompatible with one's faith. Sounds familiar, doesn't it?

"There will be some people who beat their chests and say they don't agree. But imagine if we had to agree with the ideology of every person in this world," Endoque said.

"People are tired of looking for religion; people are tired of the priests who make off with the donations. What do they ask for now? Faith, which costs nothing more than love."

Faith? This is really a perversion of the faith. An idolotry, pure paganism.

Around the world we see they devil gaining more and more followers: the supporters of murdering unborn children through abortion, the supporter of the radical and perverted homosexual agenda, those who persist in the de-Christianization of the world, the researchers of embryonic stem cells and the subsequent destruction of human life, and the idolators of sin and evil...

Royal College Warns Abortions Can Lead to Mental Illness

Simple common sense should have informed the supporters of eugenics and infanticide this, but common sense is too troublesome when an agenda of evil must be carried out.

Women may be at risk of mental health breakdowns if they have abortions, a medical royal college has warned. The Royal College of Psychiatrists says women should not be allowed to have an abortion until they are counselled on the possible risk to their mental health.

This overturns the consensus that has stood for decades that the risk to mental health of continuing with an unwanted pregnancy outweighs the risks of living with the possible regrets of having an abortion.

Consensus? A consensus of whom? Abortionists and others who make money killing the innocent?

More than 90% of the 200,000 terminations in Britain every year are believed to be carried out because doctors believe that continuing with the pregnancy would cause greater mental strain

They're all suffering "mental strain" - and this includes these so-called doctors.

Several studies, including research published in the Journal of Child Psychology and Psychiatry in 2006, concluded that abortion in young women might be associated with risks of mental health problems.

Shhhsssshhh! We can't let the facts get in the way of "choice" - the 'sacrament' of abortion is too important to let the truth be known. After all, where would the high priests/priestesses of the abortion industry get their children to continue their human sacrifices to Moloch? Cloning?

Dr Peter Saunders, general secretary of the Christian Medical Fellowship, said: “How can a doctor now justify an abortion [on mental health grounds] if psychiatrists are questioning whether there is any clear evidence that continuing with the pregnancy leads to mental health problems.”

The letter contends the federal ban on partial-birth abortions "is clearly unconstitutional" and "a flawed law."

Though the three-day-long partial-birth abortion procedure involves the partial birth of a baby during the middle trimester of pregnancy and the jamming of scissors into the back of her head to kill her, Obama's wife describes it as "legitimate" medicine....

In closing, Obama told prospective donors that they could "count on" Barack to "keep the Bush team from appointing the Supreme Court justice that will vote against Roe v. Wade."

Death peddlers, all! I wonder how she and Margaret Sanger would have gotten along?

“Legal jujitsu” - California Supreme Court

“I cannot join the majority’s holding that the California Constitution gives same-sex couples a right to marry. In reaching this decision, I believe, the majority violates the separation of powers, and thereby commits profound error....”

In his dissent, Baxter wrote that he agreed with the court’s majority that “‘from the beginning of California statehood, the legal institution of civil marriage has been understood to refer to a relationship between a man and a woman.’” He noted he also agreed that Proposition 22, the “initiative statute, adopted by popular vote of 61.4 percent and thus immune from unilateral repeal by the Legislature,” invalidates both same-sex marriages “consummated elsewhere” and those “contracted under that name in the state.”

Baxter, however, criticized the majority for relying “heavily on the Legislature’s adoption of progressive civil rights protections for gays and lesbians to find a constitutional right to same-sex marriage. In effect, the majority gives the Legislature indirectly power that body does not directly possess to amend the Constitution and repeal an initiative statute....”
